This tofu recipe is hard not to love!
Ingredients:
For the Tofu
1 Package of extra firm tofu - 14 oz.
2 tbsp cornsarch
2 tbsp vegetable oil
Top with sesame seeds and green onion
For the Sauce
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup water
2 tsp agave syrup (or maple syrup)
1 +1/2 tsp sambal olek (or sriracha)
1 clove of garlic, minced
1/2 tsp rice wine vinegar
1 tbsp cornstarch
Instructions:
Start by pressing your tofu for at least 30 minutes. You can do this by placing paper towel around tofu block, and letting something heavy sit on top of it. This will squeeze out excess water, and ensure a crispier tofu
After 30+ minutes, slice tofu in half then into cubes. Add tofu to a large bowl and sprinkle cornstarch over top. Gently toss until all the tofu pieces are covered.
In a large pan, heat up vegetable oil on medium-high.
Once it's hot, add your tofu. Cook for about 3 minutes (without touching it) and turn to cook on the other side. Let cook until golden brown.
Now make the sauce: In a bowl, whisk together all of the ingredients for the sauce.
Once the tofu is crispy and browned, add the sauce to the pan and mix. It should start thickening immediately. Remove from heat.
Plate your tofu. Top with sesame seeds and green onion.
Enjoy! :)
