Vegan Gingerbread Donuts


Vegan Gingerbread Donuts

Yield: 12 Donuts

Fun family friendly donuts with gingerbread spice, perfect for the holidays!



Gingerbread Spice Blend

  • 1 tsp ground ginger

  • 1 tsp cinnamon

  • 1/2 tsp allspice

  • 1/2 tsp ground cloves

  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg

For the Donuts

  • 2 cups of flour (or use GF Flour)

  • 1/2 cup organic cane sugar

  • 2 tsp baking powder

  • 1/2 tsp baking soda

  • 1/4 tsp salt

  • Gingerbread spice blend

  • 1 + 1/3 cup plant-based milk (I use oat milk)

  • 1/4 cup neutral oil

  • 3 tbsp blackstrap molasses

  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Gingerbread Sugar Coating

  • 1/2 cup sugar

  • 1 tsp gingerbread spice blend


  1. Pre-heat oven to 400F, and grease donut pan with cooking spray.

  2. In a small bowl, mix together all gingerbread spice blend ingredients, and set aside about 1 tsp of the mixture for the sugar coating.

  3. In a medium sized bowl, add all the dry ingredients (flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt and gingerbread spice blend) and mix together.

  4. In a large bowl, add all the wet ingredients (milk, oil, molasses, vanilla) and mix together.

  5. Pour dry ingredients into the wet ingredients. Mix until just combined (don't overmix)

  6. Using a piping bag or a ziplock bag (cutting the corner of the bag to act as piping bag), pipe into the donut pan, about 3/4 full. This will make for smoother donuts.

  7. Bake for about 10 minutes, longer if needed. You'll know it's ready when a toothpick comes out clean.

  8. While cooking, combine sugar and 1 tsp of the spice blend in a bowl.

  9. Once donuts come out, let cool but not too long, about a minute or two. The warmer the donuts are, the easier the sugar will stick to them.

  10. Toss donuts in the sugar mixture to coat. If the sugar mixture isn't sticking, brush the donuts with some melted butter or cooking spray before coating.
